BOBBY DEOL
Actor
Date Of Birth: 27-Jan-69
Career Start: 1990
He's the youngest of the most popular
Jats in the Indian film industry. That's
Vijay Singh Deol, better known as Bobby
Deol. Son of celebrated filmstar,
Dharmendra, and brother of Sunny Deol
(actor-director), it was no surprise for
anyone that Bobby too, would take up a
career in acting. Prior to that, he did
his schooling at Jamnabai, Mumbai, and
went to Mithibai college, Mumbai.
Since he had the advantage of coming
from a filmy family, Bobby didn't have
to go through the 'struggle period'. His
debut venture, 'Barsaat', was a Deol
home production. However, the film
flopped and Bobby's 'Italian' looks
didn't really appeal to the Indian
audiences. Not after having adored his
good-looking father. Bobby himself says,
"I wish I was half as good-looking as my
father. He is the best looking man this
industry ever had."
His first hit movie came in the form of
Rajiv Rai's 'Gupt'. But 'Aur Pyaar Ho
Gaya' and 'Kareeb' that followed, were
flops. Then there was a fluctuation in
his career graph again with 'Soldier'
being a hit. However, big brother's
directorial debut, 'Dillagi', did not
work to either's advantage.
Bobby Deol may not be the greatest star,
but he sure is known to be a
down-to-earth person. He likes to lead a
simple, easy-going life with wife Tanya,
and family to him matters more than the
materialistic pleasures life has offered
him.
